Mansvelt, Edward (Dutch)(c.1663-1666) -

Markham, John (Unknown)(c.1683) - pirate captain associated with Thomas Paine

Markham, William (English)(c.1577) - master of the Marigold, party to convincing John Wynter to turn back to England after being separated from Francis Drake near the Straits of Magellan

Marshall, Sampson (Unknown)() - see Kelley, James

Marteen, David (Dutch)(c.1663) - worked with John Morris and Henry Morgan, fled Jamaica at news of war between the British and Dutch, but returned when he received word that the Jamaican governor welcomed pirates of all nationalities

May, William (British)(c.1689-1699) - sailed with Henry Avery on the Fancy, abandoned as sick on Johanna in the Comoros chain, might have returned to ship when Avery returned eight weeks later

Maze, William (Unknown)(c.1695) - captain of the Pearl from Rhode Island, raided the Mocha fleet

Mead, Henry (English)(c.1696) - experienced seaman or officer, signed on with William Kidd

Minivy, Richard (English)(d.1578) - crew with Francis Drake, died near the town of Coquimbo at about 30° South, killed by the Spanish during a brief fight, his body was beheaded among other mutilations

Mitchel, Alexander (Unknown)(c.1726) - sailed with William Fly

Moody, Christopher (Unknown)() flag -

Moone, Thomas (English)(c.1577) - commanded the pinnace Christopher at the outset of Francis Drake's round the world journey, mentioned in the capture of a Spanish vessel in Valparaiso

Moore, William (English)(c.1696) - ship's gunner, signed on with William Kidd

Morgan, Edward (British)(c.1665) -

Morgan, Henry (Welsh)(c.1635-1688) portrait - most famous of the buccaneers, knighted and given governorship of Jamaica

Morris, John (British)(c.1663-1672) -

Mullins, Darby (Irish)(b.1661) - born near Londonderry, Ireland, farmer until kidnapped and shipped to Jamaica as indentured servant, traveled to New York, signed on with William Kidd

Myngs, Christopher (British)(1625-1666) - mentor of Henry Morgan and famous buccaneer leader in his own right, died in a battle with the Dutch
