van Horn, Gerrard (New Yorker)() - referenced on Saint Maries, won big gambling with other pirates

Vanbrugh, Carleton (English)(c.1707) - owners' agent on Woodes Roger's privateering trip, nearly abandoned in Tenerife after quarrelling with Rogers and being captured by the Spanish

Vane, Charles (British)(d.1719) - operated in the Caribbean and American east coast, known for his departure from New Providence on Woodes Roger's arrival as governor

Verney, Sir Francis (English)(1584-1615) - European that joined Barbary corsairs, after dispute over his inheritance, died a slave at age 31

Verrazano, Giovanni da (Genoese)(c.1485-c.1528) - sailing for France captured three Spanish ships, loaded with treasure, in 1522, also discovered New York Bay

Vicary, Leonard (English)(c.1577) - sailed with Francis Drake on his round the world journey

Viele, Humphrey (Unknown)(c.1699) - sailed with William Kidd, apprehended by Captain Mathew Lowth with £1,100
